IATS & IACS STANDARDS

Mission and Integrity: IATS Theological (Biblical Christian based) schools are communities of faith and learning guided by Biblical missions that are achieved with scriptural integrity. Schools have missions appropriate to graduate theological education and to their own contexts of ministry. Missions are clearly and publicly stated, regularly reviewed, and changed as needed. In achieving their missions, schools conduct their activities with institutional integrity, especially in areas related to human interactions, legal obligations, and Biblical commission.

Planning and Evaluation: IATS Theological (Biblical Christian based) schools are communities of faith and learning guided by Biblical visions that inform thoughtful planning grounded in strategic and purposeful ongoing evaluation. Planning is a prayerful mission-guided process that focuses on strategic priorities resulting in a plan that is appropriately resourced, actively implemented, regularly reviewed, and periodically updated. Evaluation is a systematic, and sustained process that helps schools understand their missions and then helps schools use that information to better achieve their missions, especially regarding student learning and formation.

Student Learning and Formation: IATS Theological (Biblical Christian based) schools are communities of faith centered on student learning and formation. Consistent with their missions and Christ-like identities, theological schools give appropriate attention to the intellectual, human, spiritual, and vocational dimensions of student exploration and formation. IATS schools pursue those dimensions with attention to academic rigor, kingdom competency, global formation, and lifelong learning. Schools support student learning and formation through appropriate educational standards.

Faculty: IATS Theological (Biblical Christian based) schools are communities of faith and learning based upon a kingdom effective faculty of sufficient size to achieve the schools’ educational missions and support student learning, research, shepherding, and formation. Faculty responsibilities and qualifications are clearly defined and appropriate to the spectrum of applied education. Faculty are supported and provided with ongoing opportunities for professional and spiritual development. Faculty roles in formation, scholarship, and service are clear and consistent with schools’ mission.

Governance and Administration: IATS Theological (Biblical Christian based) schools are communities of faith and learning governed by those with experience to ensure schools meet their missions with sustainability. Working collaboratively to establish priorities, develop policies, authorize actions, and evaluate outcomes make successful kingdom minded organizations. Governance is based on a covenant of Biblical trust uniting boards, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and denominational bodies where shared governance is clearly defined.
